Books: The Starbuck family of Nantucket. A 19th century leather bound 227 pages hand written history of Nantucket, from the 1641 purchase of the land by Thomas Mayhew through to the late 18th century, then continuing as a journal of island activity until 1829 by the Starbucks. Part of the Starbuck archive being sold through this saleroom. The Starbuck family were prominent in the anti-slavery movement both in the UK and the USA. Having been involved in the founding of Nantucket, members of the family emigrated to Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, after the American Revolutionary War and continued their successful whaling business.
