A worksplate ENGLISH ELECTRIC VULCAN FOUNDRY, 2908/D560, 1960, from a BR Class 55 Deltic D9003 which entered traffic at Finsbury Park in March 1961 and was named MELD the following July after the racehorse which won the 1955 Thousand Guineas, Oaks and St Leger, the only member of the class named after a filly. Renumbered 55003 in February 1974. Withdrawn from Finsbury Park in December 1980 and cut up at BREL Doncaster in March 1981. Chromed cast brass, 10"x4½", the front repainted.
