RAFAEL CONTRERAS (SPANISH 19TH CENTURY) A polychrome and gilt decorated architectural panel (based on the Alhambra, Granada), with a band of Kufic text above windows and mihrab arches, mounted in an easel-backed frame, the panel 38 x 33cm Rafael Contreras was the chief restorer of the Alhambra Palace in Granada during the 19th century, he produced a variety of architectural panels for the tourist market, many of which settling in museums and high-end private collections. A comparable example can be found in the Met Museum, New York
