A Victorian Royal Navy Officer's Sword, scarce 1827 pattern with slightly curved pipe-back blade with broad quill-tip, 30 3/4"/79cm, with burnished and polished decoration of arabesque and crowned fouled anhcor, 'Warranted' Holbeck & Sons, 4 New Bond St, London, solid gilt-brass hilt with carved gothic panels and a raised Queen's crown and fouled anchor device all on a stippled ground, carved and moulded lionshead pommel, wire-bound white fishskin grip and folding inner guard, the sword in its matching black leather scabbard with gilded brass drag, middle band and throat , all engraved with scrollwork and oak-leaves, the whole retaining the majority of its original finish, scabbard with maker's plaque of Widdow Sons & Veale, 73 The Strand, London, traces of original gilding to brass. generally a nice example
