Collections feature strongly in the sale, with part 2 of a superb collection of Chinese Rank Badges and other embroideries joining a local family collection of Quaker embroideries, with examples from Ackworth School near Pontefract, including a medallion sampler. Fine 19th century costume is again consigned by a Yorkshire collector, who is slowly clearing the attic. The late Rita Dermer of London’s fan collection reached Morphets when her daughter tracked down our fan specialist, determined to have the collection curated by Mary Copper. The renowned lace-maker, Ann Collier, continues to entrust the sale of her unique fans to Morphets, and on this occasion has included the first of her lace parasol covers.
