1913-16 Irish Volunteers officer's tunic. A grey-green military tunic, the cuff facings bordered with braid, with compressed leather buttons, maker's label with 'Deanta in Eireann' mark and "Made in Dublin - by Co-Operative Workers".
The design for a Volunteer uniform was agreed by a sub-committee on 12 August 1914. The chosen uniform was to consist of a grey-green tunic, trousers and puttees. It was up to the individual volunteer to purchase these and while wearing a uniform was not compulsory for volunteers it was for officers.
