1965 BSA A65 Lightning, 649cc. Registration number PNW 619C. Frame number A50B 5083. Engine number A65.D.2635.
The A65L Lightning was introduced in 1964, effectively replacing the short-lived Rocket, and based on the twin carburettor Lightning Rocket already available in the USA. Among other cosmetic changes – most notably extra chrome plating and the side panels were now moulded in glass fibre. The engine’s high compression pistons and sports camshaft gave it nearly 50bhp, and the top speed easily exceeded 100MPH.
PNW was registered with DVLA in 2016 by Michael Ives after it had received a full restoration in Denmark and given a fresh MOT, he sold it to Peter Vernon two months later and then our vendor bought it in August 2016. It had previously been in Wisconsin, USA. Our vendor has covered some 137 miles on it and it has been dry stored in his collection. It will require recommissioning.
Sold with the V5C, NOVA and USA title.
