A late Victorian draughtsman's stationery box by Stanley, constructed from mahogany with brass furniture and fitted interior, the lid with fabric label, marked: 'Stanley - Ct. Turnstile Holborn W.C. & Railway Terminus, London Bridge.' Containing five boxwood 'Stanley's engine divided scale' rules/rulers, each marked 'G. B. Partridge' to the reverse. Together with a further five Stanley rule sections, a 12" rule by Elliott & Sons, 56 Strand London and a fine point dipping pen. The box 13 1/2" long

G B Partridge is thought to have been a Captain in the Royal Engineers stationed Quetta in India though no written provenance survives.
