Louis William Wain (British, 1860-1939): An original Louis Wain mixed media artwork painting depicting a classic Louis cat holding an ink pen signed Lower Right "LOUIS WAIN" approx 17.5cm x 22.5cm (Comes with Provenance from current owner which reads: "Daphnes' parents worked in a mental hospital in St Alban's, Hertfordshire. Louis Wain was a patient there for some years. Towards the end of his life, he was moved into a London Hospital where he subsequently died. The paintings were given either to her parents and then inherited by Daphne, or given directly to her, it's impossible to say, Daphne would have been a very young person or child at the time, I think they would have appealed to a child. In either case, they were in Daphne's possession for many, many, years when she died this summer at 92 years of age. The paintings were specifically bequeathed to me in her will.")
