James V Scotland (1513-1542) Silver 1 Groat, Type III, Obverse: type III.7, usual ‘A,’ and usual ‘D,’ crowned bust right with open mantle, trefoil of pellets behind head, Reverse: shield on long cross forchee, Cross-ends type D, (‘The Groat Coinage of James V (1526-1538), by Robert B.K. Stevenson), 2.35g 25mm to 24mm diameter, loss of outer beaded edge and into legend where clipped but not affecting the ‘A,’ very slight ripple to flan.
