Piero Sani was born in Spicchio di Vinci, Italy. Attracted to the works of Renaissance artists from a young age, Sani visited exhibitions and museums, observing and trying to understand the mechanisms of painting. Pietro Sani's paintings are often characterized by singular stylistic traits that lean toward abstract tendencies. What can be appreciated in the ornaments of curtains, hangings and draperies, so frequently recurrent in his works, in the foreground in the iconography peculiar to the painter, indeed appears to be linked to his concealed urgency to reach out towards exquisitely imaginary spheres, where all that reminds of any shape is nothing but an alluring mental imprint. Suspended on a ridge against wavering horizons, Sani's expressive penchant reveals to be rather pervaded by mutable impressions, partly stirred by remote shreds of memory and, more evidently by the sublime beauty of the encompassing landscape - enclosed amongst Siena, Florence and the Chianti region - which unremittingly nurtures his flamboyant inspiration.
