An early 19th century Staffordshire earthenware novelty figural pepperpot, of Roger Giles, typically modelled squatting and miracluously laying eggs, pierced hat and picked out in Pratt Ware palette colours, 11cm high, c. 1835 Roger Giles was a Devonshire jack-of-all-trades who supposedly advertised on a signboard to sell his fresh eggs, newly laid by him every day.
