S.S. Stepney of Glasgow, 1916, a builder's mirror backed half block model, the laminated and carved hull with gilt brass propeller, ebonised top sides and lined and lacquered decking, with plated fittings including anchors, winches and deck rails, mounted on original front silvered mirror within glass fronted wooden case with angled end mirrors and ivorine builders plate, overall measurements 155 x 20 x 38cm.
Steel Steamer Stepney was launched on the 18th July 1916 as a general cargo vessel of 186 foot length, for the Commercial Gas Company and plied the Irish Sea between Workington, Glasgow and Dublin. She was sold to the Kyle Shipping Company Ltd in 1957 and subsequently broken up.
