LUCY CASSON (BORN 1960) - DONATIONS BOX SCULPTURE. (d) A large Donations Box, made as a commission in the 1990's by Lucy Casson for the Russell-Cotes Museum in Bournemouth. With various figures made from re cycled tin including one with an Owl perched on one arm, within a glass and wooden case. Mounted with a hand beaten metal turret including animal and other designs to each side, the lower section made in wood with a Donations slot. The reverse with access for the money. 199cms high, case 36cms by 36cms
*Lucy Casson studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and at the Hereford College of Art. Her work is highly sought after by private collectors and institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum. She utilises various found objects; tin cans, sheet metal, wood and wire to create her wonderfully humorous pieces which are in essence three dimensional cartoons of everyday situations often involving endearingly naughty dogs.
*Artists Resale Rights applies to this lot. *CR The top of the turret is a little damaged and dented and needs a little work, general wear and tear in places as you would expect over time.
This used to be illuminated, powered by a car battery inside. One tube has blown the other seems ok, it needs completely re wiring if it is to be illuminated again.
