1847 (May 13) Entire letter from Madras to London endorsed "Per Overland "Express" via Marseille", the reverse with red Madras Paid datestamp showing "Express 8A" with a total paid of 10A, red oval "INDIA" handstamp, charged 1/10". A good example of the special express service from Madras to Bombay to catch the P&O sailing to England (far scarcer than similar Express items from Calcutta).
