A Scandinavian / Swedish painted bent wooden dowry box (tine' or 'svepask')19th century, of traditional oval form, the ends with notched posts to secure the lid, iron bolt to one side, decorated with stylised pansy flowers in red, blue and yellow against a black ground, 21¬ x 14óin. (54 x 37.5cm.), 17in. (43.3cm.) high.
