£120
French specimen wood collector's chest, circa 1890-1920, having two recessed panel doors opening to six specimen wood fronted drawers, and with a long drawer to the base, width 37cm, height 29.5cm, depth 18cm
The outer case has some slither chips to the moulded edge around the top. The top itself has some ring marks and watermarks. There is moulding missing around the right and left hand sides of the base. There is a gap between the two boards on the back. There is a key. There is a let-in piece of wood on the left hand side of the base. On the inside there are some nibbles to one of the recessed knobs. The doors have been forced at some point creating a loss of wood on the inside left door. On the tops of the drawers the variety of wood hand written in ink. The lower drawer has a split in the base running horizontally. Three of the small drawers have a split on the base running front to back. There is a loss to one of the wooden escutcheons. An intriguing little cabinet which would benefit from some renovation.
