A FIRST WORLD WAR TRIO AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO A CASUALTY AT CORONEL. A Great War trio comprising 1914-15 Star named to L5262 A.W Chishall OS 111 R.N. War Medal and Victory Medal to L. 5262 A.W. Chisnall OS 3 RN. Memorial plaque named to Arthur William Chisnall. Arthur William Chisnall was born on the 21st June 1894. He joined the Royal Navy at Portsmouth in March 1914. By the 1st November he wad 'Discharged Dead' his short career ending on the 1st November 1914 when H.M.S Good Hope was lost at Coronel with all hands. Good Hope was a Drake class cruiser built in 1902. She was hit by the Scharnhorst early in the Battle of Coronel, Admiral Craddock closed in on the enemy to allow his 6 inch guns to be effective. By nightfall she was on fire in several places, making a tempting target. Admiral Craddock attempted to close to Torpedo range but was met by a salvo from two enemy cruisers. Good Hope blew up at 1953 hours with all hands including the Admiral, he was 20 years old and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial and the Headley War Memorial outside All Saints Church in Hampshire. Mounted for display with copied research including a number of images of H.M.S Good Hope and Memorials.

Note inconsistent spelling. Good condition with a great history form the early days of Naval engagements during the Great War.
