Emile Galle cutback cameo glass vase. A dramatic galle cameo glass fritillary design with leaves and stylised flower heads on a classic galle footed form vase. The clear body of the vase is internally suffused with opalised yellow and covered with two layers of cameo glass in amethyat and pale blue. the amethyist layer takes on a rich dark purple colour where it overlays the blue while the vase has been cut back internally with acid to remove the yellow colour and produce the pure blue details of the fritillary flower heads. The background is frosted to a satin finish while the layers of cameo glass are hand polished to highlight the design. this is a very pleasing and dramatic rendition of a stunning galle design. Circa 1900 height is 19.5cmwith signature near the base of the vase in the leaves.a fine script signature galle is intaglio acid etched into the cameo layer.
