RARE G.B. 1d LILAC NAVAL CONCESSION RATE COVER FROM "NOUMEA, NEW CALEDONIA" TO G.B.; Remarkable Oct. 1899 env. (small piece with the stamp at one cut out but now neatly put back in position - as usual for this correspondence) to Lincoln headed & countersigned for a sailor on "HMS Swinger, Noumea, New Caledonia" with a GB 1d Lilac (perfs. rubbed at right where along edge of cover, small pin-hole) cancelled by a partly fine "LONDON" transit cds (14 Nov.) with 15 Nov. "BOSTON" (Lincs.) backstamp. Very rare example of British franked mail from the Pacific Islands.
