German-French painter of the 20th century. Representative of the so-called lost or lost generation. She came from a Jewish family in what was then West Prussia; her parents were murdered in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. From 1913 at the School of Arts and Crafts in Hanover with Ludwig Vierthaler, then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar and from 1926 in Berlin. Contact with the Novembergruppe artists' group and involvement with works by the Blaue Reiter group. From 1931 in Paris, studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. Designed advertising posters and fabrics for French fashion houses. Acquainted with André Lhote through her husband Paul Ronget, exhibited at the Paris Salon d'Automne. In early work influences of Cubism comparable to George Braque, Pablo Picasso and André Lhote, intense involvement with Paul Cezanne.
