A ROMAN AGATE CAMEO WITH THE HEAD OF MEDUSA, 2ND - 3RD CENTURY A.D. This finely crafted Roman agate cameo dates back to the 2nd - 3rd century A.D. The piece beautifully depicts the head of Medusa, a mythological figure revered for her role as both protector and symbol of transformation. The delicate carving of her face is surrounded by intricately detailed curls. The translucent quality of the agate allows for a subtle play of light, enhancing the detail of the carving.
