Two 1914-1920s photo albums/scrap books belonging to Cecily Gaisford St Lawrence of Howth Castle in Ireland. The albums contain photos, newspaper cuttings, signatures, holidays, family etc, and the bulk of the collection covers horses, racing, social events, Highland Games, visits to other stately homes, invitations etc, there is an important military content. Cecily had 3 brothers serve in WW1, her eldest brother Thomas Julian Edward was a Captain in the Seaforth Highlanders and was awarded the MC & 2 bars and was wounded 3 times, her middle brother Lawrence served in the Royal Navy and was granted rank of Cmdr in recognition of his war service and her youngest brother Cyril Hugh served in the Scots Greys and was dangerously wounded in the First Battle of Ypres and awarded the an MC in 1918. There are various photos of the 3 brothers in uniform and also a range of photos of the Scots Greys on active service, RN warships etc. An interesting lot to a well-connected family.
