A WWII RAF Observer’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, to P A Tansley, who qualified as an Air Bomber at the O.C. Training Wing No 41 Air School on 31st October 1942, and as an air Bombing Instructor at E.A.A.S (Empire Air Armament School) Manby on 10th March 1945, between these times, his active service operations included raids on Nuremburg, Turin, Peenemunde (returned early), Berlin, Montlucon, Modane, Hannover and Cherbourg, and was reported missing on 5th March 1944, turning up in Gibraltar 53 days later, on 27th April and arrived back in the UK on 5th May. The entries in his log book recommence on 13th February 1945 at E.A.A.S Manby, later 26th O.T.U Wing, the last entry being on 10th September 1945. Accompanying the log book are three Post Office Priority telegrams to his father, the first to say that his son is missing (6th March 1944), the second that he arrived in Gibraltar on 27th April and the third that he was back in the UK, in their original envelopes; also including his RAF Airman’s Pay book (very worn) and his RAF Flying Clothing Card. An interesting lot. £150-250
