A LARGE 19TH CENTURY INDIAN CARVED ROCK CRYSTAL ELEPHANT WITH HOWDAH AND RIDER

This impressive 19th-century Indian carved rock crystal sculpture depicts an elephant adorned with a richly detailed howdah (carriage) and rider. The elephant is skilfully rendered with intricate patterns across its body, including its saddle and trappings. The transparent rock crystal allows light to accentuate the finely incised details. The rider is seated atop the howdah, which features ornate carvings and decorative motifs, including palm-like forms and other traditional Indian patterns.
