A FIRST WORLD WAR MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO A DISPATCH RIDER WITH THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. A Memorial plaque named 'Francis Reginald Philips', with Buckingham Palace note and distressed envelope. Francis Reginald Hebden Phillips was born in 1897, the son of C and Mary Phillips of Canterbury. He died on the 26th August 1917 whilst serving as a Lance Corporal number 31808 with the 30th Fortress Company of the Royal Engineers. He was accidentally killed in a road traffic accident whilst serving as a dispatch rider in Plymouth, he is buried at Dover (Charlton) Cemetery, his headstone reads 'At rest sleep within the fold'.
