A Rare Pair of Qing Dynasty hardwood / possibly Zitan Folding Horseshoe-Back Jiaoyi/Armchairs, with S-curved solid splats each carved with a pair of intertwined Chilong dragons within a lingzhi-shaped spirit lock, the mid-section a rectangular panel carved with exotic bird amidst bamboo and prunus blossom, the arms joined to the front supports with chilong brackets, typical rope-strung seats, the front seat rail carved with elongated facing Chilong dragons, the front supports joined by a hinged footrest mounted with pierced and cut copper-alloy motifs, and similar banded strapwork to the arms and supports. Each rear seat rail with ‘Customs Permission’ wax seals, weight of each chair approximately 28lb / 12.72kg
