A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY STAR AND WAR MEDAL TO THE RIFLE BRIGADE. A Great War 1914-15 Star named to S6903 Pte J. Devonshire Rif Brig and War Medal similarly named. Rifleman John Gillas Devonshire was the son of Harry and Ada Devonshire, 1, Mill Cottages, Horton, Slough, Buckinghamshire served with the 1st and 12 Battalion of the Rifle Brigade, he died on the 4th June 1917 at the age of 23, he has a headstone against the wall at Noreuil Australian Cemetery south of Arras, it reads 'Known to be buried in this cemetery', the personal inscription 'Day by Day I Miss you Mum.'
