German Imperial Kaiserliche Marine Officer cadet's sidearm. A good rare example. Ribbed brass hilt, the integral brass crossguard bearing Imperial crown with fixed fouled anchor shell guard. The reverse of the hilt with clear 1.M.D. 56 stamp. The straight 48 cm blade etched with sailing ship trophies of war and crowned fouled anchor. Housed in its leather scabbard with brass gilt mounts and frog stud; retaining leather double strapped frog/carrier. Slight age wear, to leather blade near VGC.
