WW1 BWM, Victory Medal and Memorial Plaque to Capt W. Swan (William Swan on plaque) in fitted leather travelling display frame, minor verdigris to plaque, generally good very fine to extremely fine.
He was killed in action with 2/5th Bn Notts & Derby Regt on 6th December 1917 and is buried in Ribecourt British Cemetery. The Regt History records "At 7 pm on the 7th (sic) Captain Swan, OC B Company and Mr Jackson were killed by a direct shell-hit on their headquarters. Captain Swann was an admirable company commander, capable and efficient. Both he and Mr Jackson were sincerely mourned by the whole Battalion, officers and men alike."
Sold with framed photo in uniform, larger unframed photo in uniform, Graves Registration card and photo of original grave, Sphere magazine page with photos of 20 casualties including Swan and War Office Certificate of Death confirming date and place of burial dated 30/10/18.
