Mostly from or to Mr Shand, Private Secretary to Prime Minister Gladstone. 10 Downing Street, The Treasury and House of Commons letterheads feature throughout. includes notes signed by Gladstone, references to Randolf Churchill and other significant figures. One standout piece of correspondece from Shand informs the recipient that Gladstone has 'quitted' Downing Street, dated the day he was forced to resign as Prime Minister in March 1894.
