TO G.B. - RARE LATE USAGE OF A PAIR OF 2c ON 1871 3c ON 8c-RATE COVER TO LONDON; Feb. 1902 env. (slight staining, closed tear on reverse) to London with rare Pair of the 2c o.p. 1871 3c with 1901 1c Strip of Three & single all tied by light "[SARAWAK]" cds's having an equally unclear London backstamp; the correct 8c rate for a letter above the half ounce and up to one ounce. This is believed to be the only known 2c on 1871 3c Pair on cover (stated to be such by Symes), and is certainly a remarkably late usage of this issue. [Ex Symes, 1971, lot 1217.] Exhibition Item.
