MacSuibhne was born and raised in County Sligo and showed and interest in drawing and painting from an early age. He was taught oil painting by his late father Joseph Sweeney and went on to study for a degree in art in Galway at the GMIT.
During his childhood the family used to spend every summer in Spiddal, County Galway, and like his dad, Colm was inspired there by the Connemara landscape and culture which appear frequently in his work.
With his unique sense of colour and dynamic brushwork he produces vibrant and atmospheric contemporary landscapes and seascapes.
Colm has paintings in public and private collections in Ireland, the U.K., the U.S. and the Netherlands.
