A late 19th century carved oak open armchair - the shaped top rail and uprights carved with fern leaves, over a blind fret carved shaped splat with Gothic-style interlaced strapwork and raised bosses, dated '1896' to the panelled shoe piece, over swept arms on turned supports, a red leather stuffover seat and arcaded seat rails, raised on baluster turned and foliate carved front legs with egg-and-dart carved peripheral stretchers, 65.5 cm wide, 102.5 cm high.
