A BEDELL IRISH BIBLE, printed 1830. Translated to ‘old Irish’ script. More about Bedell: William Bedell was a Hebrew scholar who sought out to translate the Bible into the native Irish language. He completed the project with the help of some native speakers in 1640 however there was such opposition from the establishment that he was arrested and imprisoned, and died in 1642 before his work was published.
