A brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss with spring bayonet, by G Johnson c 1820, 29½” overall, bell mouth barrel 13½” with B’ham proofs, engraved “Newcastle”, and with 12” spring bayonet released by thumb catch on breech tang; signed stepped lock with engraved tail, rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring; walnut fullstock, the brass mounts include engraved butt plate tang and trigger guard with pineapple finial, with plain brass tipped ebony ramrod. GWO & C, dark patina to lock (minor pitting to bayonet). Plate 9 and front cover
