Maipu, 1879, Hell Bay, Isles of Scilly A large bronze pintle Approximately 48cm x 34cm x 100cm. The crew of seventeen were saved when the Maipu, bound fro Tquique via Cork with a cargo of saltpetre from Hamburg, went ashore on 27th July, 1879, during a dense fog between Hell Point and Shipman Head, Scillies, becoming a total wreck.
