c.1923 Harrison & Sons sample stamps inscribed "SPECIMEN", imperforate stamps on gummed paper, some watermarked, comprising Chateau de Chillon in three differing colours (22, including a block of ten), St. Nicholas Church Amsterdam in three differing colours (32, with blocks of eight and ten), Belgian type in four colours (34, with two sheets of ten), Tunisian King in two colours (9), Dutch numeral type in two colours (6), Luxembourg type in five colours (28, with two sheets of ten), Robespiere in three colours (20), Javanese girl in three colours (22, with two sheets of ten), Queen Wilhelmina in five colours (12). These perforated sample stamps were illustrated and described in a 1979 article in "The Philatelist", which stated "some imperfs were also produced, probably as colour trials and proofs, but these are exceedingly rare". A scarce group with thirty differing designs/colours. (185). Photo on Pages 78 & 164.
