An interesting Victorian yellow metal sweetheart pendant with a military connection. The pendant, formed as a snake or serpent swirled around a ruby-colour cabouchon stone, is set to the reverse with a sepia head and shoulders photograph of young man in possibly Hussars or Cavalry cap and uniform circa 1870s. Gross weight of pendant 4.3g. Acid test suggests 10 carat. Approx dimensions of pendant excluding suspension loop 20mm x 16mm. Slight a/f fine cracks in glazing of photograph, the photograph has expected fading with age. Personal inspection recommended
