Anthonie Waldorp (Dutch 1803-1866) - A 19th century oil on board maritime naval painting. To depict a 17th century scene from the Franco- Dutch War (1672-1678) wherein a Dutch warship is firing upon a French vessel within harbour. The foreground to depict three figures in moored sailing dinghy, the foremost figure perhaps being a self portrait of the artist who is seated and drawing the battle. Signed A. Waldorp to the lower right corner. Framed. Measures approx. 60cm x 44cm.
