Mougin, a mid-Victorian French tortoiseshell and ormolu mantel clock, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a gong with the backplate stamped with the trademark of the maker AD. Mougin, with the round enamel dial having black Roman numerals to and blued-steel fleur-de-lys hands, the shaped red tortoiseshell case having applied gilt-brass mounts, height 32cm. Notes: AD. Mougin is recorded as working in the mid-to-late 1800's at Rue de Turenne, 75, Paris, the heart of the Parisian clockmaking industry at this period.
