Star Lot : A fantastic original limited edition (183/395) silkscreen print titled "Boy on the Roof" by the artist Mackenzie Thorpe dating to 1999. Printed on Somerset Velvet paper, this image features the figure of a young boy perched on a teal roof set against a peach sky. Hand signed in pencil bottom right and housed in a silver toned frame. CoA to verso. Thorpe has a strong auction history with works fetching into the high hundreds and early thousands. Some damage.

Born into a working-class family, Mackenzie Thorpe's undiagnosed dyslexia caused him to leave school without any formal qualifications and he worked briefly as a manual labourer. However, his passion for painting gave him the confidence to apply to Middlesborough College of Art, where he was accepted on the strength of his enthusiasm and existing portfolio. He later studied at Byam Shaw School of Art in London. Mackenzie Thorpe's prints, calendars, and greeting cards with his distinctive black-and-white figures and emotional pull have helped propel him into the ranks of well-respected international and commissioned artists. Mackenzie Thorpe prints and sculptures, in particular, have become highly sought after.
