A fine silver fitted purple crocodile hide dressing case by Drew & Sons, retaining the full compliment of silver mounted, handled and capped accessories, including tray and carriage timepiece, blotting book with ivory handle, dip pen and pencil, travelling inkwell and light, manicure wallet retaining silver handled tweezers (only), jewel box and sewing box, the case lined in purple moire silk, the flap to the lid with silver lock engraved DREW & SONS MAKERS TO THE ROYAL FAMILY PICCADILLY CIRCUS W, two gilt brass locks with sliding catch, the lid blocked in gold E.V., carriage clock movement with lion trade mark and stamped FRENCH MAKE, each piece engraved E.V. in ligature, case 50cm long with felt lined cotton cover, mark of J Drew & Sons, London 1911, 13 and 14, 28ozs 8dwts weighable
Provenance: A wedding present to Lady Enid Vane and engraved with her initials. Lady Enid Victoria Rachel Fane (1894-1969) the daughter of Lt Col Anthony Mildmay Julian Fane, 13th Earl of Westmorland and Lady Sybil Mary St Clair-Erskine, married, firstly, on 25th August 1914 Major the Hon. Henry Cecil Vane, the eldest son of Henry de Vere Vane, 9th Baron Barnard of Barnard Castle and Lady Catherine Sarah Cecil (1882-1917) Lady Enid Vane married, secondly, on 1 September 1922 Major Herbert Broke Turnor

Neck of one glass jar damaged, rim of oval glass jar very slightly nibbled. Provision for another leather wallet now lacking otherwise in superb preservation with hardly any sign of wear, the leather and lining in good condition. The timepiece in apparently working order, no key to case
