A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 68398, REBUILT DARLINGTON, 1903, from a North Eastern Railway tank loco No 1344 built by Hawthorn, Works No 1648, in June 1875 which started life as a 0-4-4 bogie passenger tank but went through extensive rebuilding, to which this plate refers, to a Class J77 0-6-0 side tank. It was renumbered 8398 in 1946, becoming BR 68398, and spent its later years at North Blyth from where it was withdrawn in January 1953 and cut up at Darlington Works. The plate has a replica renumbering strip 68398. (Dispatch by Mailboxes/Collect from Banbury Depot)
