Star Lot: 'Robert Cresswell Boak ARCA (Irish)' A wonderful 'Robert Cresswell Boak ARCA (Irish)' etching on paper titled ' Cushendall, Antrim Coast'. Features the titular landscape scene.Portrays shades of greens and blues. Titled and signed in pencil to base. Housed in a gilt frame behind glass.
Cresswell Boak has a strong auction history with works fetching into the mid hundreds.

Robert Cresswell Boak was a painter and etcher born in Letterkenny, County Donegal. Boak was educated at the Londonderry School of Art and the Royal College of Art, before traveling to Paris and Rome. He also taught art for a short time in Portsmouth and Southsea, before making the decision to devote his time fully to his art. Boak exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Society, as well as at the Royal Hibernian Academy. In 1927, he became a member of the Belfast Art Society. He married Margaret Cooper who was an artist and writer from Belfast. During his time in Belfast, he produced several etchings of the city and its historic buildings. In 1932, the couple left Belfast before the Second World War and settled in London where he died in 1949.
