A smokebox numberplate 30705 from a London & South Western Railway T9 Class 4-4-0 No 705 built by Dubs & Co, Works No 3749, in February 1899. It retained this number in SR days, becoming BR 30705. Allocated to Eastleigh by January 1948 and later Bournemouth, Exmouth Junction, Basingstoke and Guildford from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 11 January 1958 and cut up at Brighton Works in the week ending 1 March 1958. The plate has been broken between the last two numbers and repaired by BR with a steel bar fitted to the back of the plate. The front has been repainted. (Postage Band: D)
