A 16 bore brass barrelled flintlock holster pistol, by E Newton of Grantham, c 1775, 13½” overall, barrel 8” with London and “Foreigner’s” proofs, breech engraved with flower heads and “Grantham” in panel; signed brass lock with swan neck cock and dog tooth border; walnut fullstock with shell carving behind barrel tang; brass mounts include long spurred butt cap, flower engraved trigger guard, escutcheon with shell finial, and openwork sideplate embossed with trophies, flags and castle.
