A 16 bore brass barrelled flintlock holster pistol, by E Newton of Grantham, c 1775, 13½” overall, barrel 8” with London and “Foreigner’s” proofs, breech engraved with flower heads and “Grantham” in panel; signed brass lock with swan neck cock and dog tooth border; walnut fullstock with shell carving behind barrel tang; brass mounts include long spurred butt cap, flower engraved trigger guard, escutcheon with shell finial, and openwork sideplate embossed with trophies, flags and castle. Good Working Order and Condition (ramrod replaced). Plate 8
