1914-15 Star trio and Memorial Plaque to 2113 Pte A.S. Mackay R. Scots (Alastair Sutton Mackay on plaque) good very fine. Alastair Sutton Mackay died of wounds with 9th Bn on 29th April 1915 and with no known grave is commemorated on the Menin Gate. With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died and De Ruvigny's Roll Of Honour which states on the outbreak of war he enlisted in the 9th Royal Scots, left for the front 23 Feb 1915 and was shot by a stray bullet while carrying rations from the transports on 29 April. He died the same day and was buried on the 30th on a farm at Hooge.
With brother's WW1 Memorial Plaque to Falconer Morrison MacKay extremely fine. He died on 15th May 1919 and is buried in Rossken Parish Churchyard Extensions. With 4 copied pages of service record and CWGC, he enlisted 24/7/16, served with 1/6th Seaforths, No 267535, suffered a large wound to leg 28/4/17 which later required amputation, discharged 22/5/18, highly likely that this wound caused his later death, but not listed in Soldiers Died.
