A smokebox numberplate, 62038, from a Peppercorn K1 Class 2-6-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 26642, and allocated new on 16 September 1949 to March where it remained until moving in April 1962 to Doncaster from where it was withdrawn on 16 October 1963 and sold for scrap to J. Routledge at Bootle. In ex loco condition, a small section milled out of the top rim to clear the smokebox door handle. (Postage Band: D)
