Late 19th century Mittenwald violoncello labelled Neuner Hornsteiner, Mittenwald (Baiern), 1880, 29 1/2", 72.40cm, bow, semi-rigid case
This violoncello is in generally quite poor condition with a table crack in the sound post area, there are also several other table cracks, scores and scuffs, most of the ribs have had poorly repaired cracks and been overvarnished, the back by comparison appears to be in reasonable structural condition but slightly opening on the centre join at the lower bouts.
